A new US-based mini-market has opened in Shanghai.
The first outlet opened on Monday in the Chinese city’s Central Business District.
The outlet will also be open to international customers, including India, Japan and Brazil.
The company, called Acme Market, was started by former Acme Group chairman Rakesh Jha and is set to open a second outlet in Shanghai, as well as in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Acme is the fourth major Indian e-commerce firm to open an outlet in China, following Juhu Express, Flipkart and Amazon.
India is the third-largest e-tailer market in the world, and its market share has increased steadily over the last few years, growing from about 5% in 2013 to almost 15% in 2020, according to data from the World Economic Forum.
